Austin kicks off its July 11 weekend with the East Side Pop-Up Market opening at 9 a.m. on East Cesar Chavez Street and multiple evening concerts scheduled across town.
The timing aligns with peak summer visitor numbers and local families seeking air-conditioned or shaded activities after recent heat advisories from the National Weather Service.
Organizers at the Austin Parks and Recreation Department have added extra shade tents at Zilker Park while the South Congress Business Alliance promotes its sidewalk sales along the avenue between Elizabeth Street and Riverside Drive.
The East Side Pop-Up Market runs until 3 p.m. both days with 45 vendors offering produce, crafts and prepared foods. Entry is free and parking is available in the lot at 1200 East Cesar Chavez. Barton Springs Pool nearby opens at 8 a.m. with admission set at $9 for adults and $5 for children under 12.
City data shows the market drew 4,200 visitors last July, prompting this year’s addition of two extra food trucks stationed at the corner of Chicon Street.
ACL Live at the Moody Theater on West Riverside Drive hosts a 7:30 p.m. show on Saturday with doors opening at 6 p.m. General admission tickets cost $35 in advance through the venue website. The Parish on East Sixth Street offers a free 8 p.m. outdoor set on Sunday featuring local bands.
Visitors should arrive early for parking at the Moody Center garage or use the CapMetro 1L bus line that stops directly outside both locations. Tickets for Sunday events remain available at the door until capacity is reached.
