Bouldin Creek FC secured its third straight win in the Austin Recreational Soccer League on July 10 at the fields near Lady Bird Lake, outscoring opponents 12-4 across the matches and drawing crowds that spilled onto the surrounding paths.
The result matters now because the league expanded registration to 620 players this season after a 2024 count of 480, reflecting growing demand for organized adult play in a city where many residents balance work at downtown tech firms with evening games.
Players from the club train twice weekly at the Austin Recreation Center on East 5th Street and use the South Congress Avenue fields for weekend fixtures, drawing teammates who live in the Bouldin Creek and Travis Heights neighborhoods.
League Growth and Local Numbers
Registration for the fall session opens August 1 at a cost of $145 per player through the Austin Parks and Recreation Department website, up from $120 two years ago, with the added revenue funding new goals and lighting at three East Austin sites.
Attendance at league matches rose 22 percent year over year according to department records released in June, with the largest crowds at the Barton Springs Road complex where Bouldin Creek FC plays its home games.
How Residents Can Get Involved
Interested players can sign up for open tryout sessions starting July 18 at the Zilker Park fields or contact the league coordinator through the city website to join existing teams or form new ones before the September schedule begins.
The next round of matches starts September 6, giving new participants time to secure spots on rosters that now include squads from the Mueller and East Cesar Chavez areas.
